Cohort 2 Student Published in Nature Scientific Reports

Congratulations to CDT-CMP Cohort 2 Student, Torsten Jensen has been published in Nature Scientific Reports.

The work solves a decades-long mystery as to why the organic mineral karpatite fluoresces blue when exposed to ultraviolet light but glows green when grown in a laboratory. The research could improve the design of devices made using organic crystals such as LED’s and solar cells.

The paper has been featured on phys.org (https://phys.org/news/2017-08-fluorescent-crystal-mystery.html) and UPI.com (https://www.upi.com/Science_News/2017/08/31/Scientists-solve-fluorescent-crystal-mystery/6681504182875/).
