Partner Placements 2019

It’s that time of year again where our latest cohort (5) are getting ready to undertake their 6 week placements with our Industry, Facility and Academic Partners.

Alex will be working at the Institute of Physics Publishing (IOPP) working with the Physics World team. Alex hopes to contribute to some Physics World articles over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for his articles at https://physicsworld.com/.

Oliver is travelling to Western Digital in San Jose, US, to try to understand new materials with potential for digital storage solutions better. Oliver’s project will be focussed on improving the theoretical descriptions of such materials.

Greg and Morgan are travelling to the High Field Magnet Laboratory (HFML) in Nijmegen, where they will be working on some new advances in applying magnetism as a solution to major problems of the modern age. They will be working on engineering working prototypes of a scaled down system.

Rebecca is working at Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology, based in Yatton on the outskirts of Bristol. Rebecca will be working in a clean room, evaluating the diagnostics of a plasma processing chamber in order to improve the repeatability of the processing technology.
